  • In what event will the nursery be closed?
    The nursery is open 51 weeks of the year. We close on the week between Christmas and New Year and also on bank holidays. We also close in the event of adverse weather conditions i.e. snow.
  • What is your children-to-teacher ratio?
    1:3 for children under 2, 1:4 for 2-3 year olds and 1:8 for over 3’s.
  • How many years of experience do your teachers have?
    We pride ourselves on our excellent retention of staff. Several staff have been here since the nursery opened in 2001.
  • What payment methods do you accept?
    Payment is via card/cash/bank transfers. We also accept all childcare vouchers.
  • Do you welcome parent involvement?
    We pride ourselves on our partnership with parents. We offer lots of stay and play and sessions and encourage them to come in for story times and special events such as easter, Christmas and mothers and father’s day. We offer a contact books in baby room to communicate with parents. You will also have time at the start and end of your session to have a discussions with staff.
  • What is your policy regarding sick children?
    Children are to stay at home until they are 48 hours clear of a sickness bug.
  • What if someone other than my spouse/partner or me has to pick up my child?
    We offer a password for collection which is a secure word created by parents on registration. We require advance notice if someone else is collecting and also the password. If we have not had notice or correct password the child will not be able to leave until we have phoned the parents and received confirmation.
  • How is Phoenix Day Nursery different from other centres in the area?
    We are situated in the rural area which provides a great environment for children’s learning. We have our own minibus for trips out and new experiences. We also go on regular walks and visits around the surrounding area.
  • Do you offer part-time care?
    We provide full and part-time care. We offer flexible and term time only sessions.
  • How will you make sure my child settles into the nursery well?
    Settling in to Phoenix is a crucial time for you and your child. We want every family to enjoy their time with us. We have a settling routine that we follow for new families. Parents are encouraged to spend time with their children at nursery before leaving them.
  • Do I have to provide nappies?
    Parents are to provide nappies, wipes and creams.
